The Role – Electrical Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Pharmaceutical and Packaging
In this role, you will be responsible for assigned internal and external calibrations, maintenance, and repair of all manufacturing & production equipment on site whilst driving efficiencies through continuous improvement activities using Lean tools. All manufacturing & production equipment must be available in line with company requirements and comply with legislation and set standards.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To apply a range of mechanical and electrical skills including installation, monitoring, servicing, calibration and fault finding.
2. Application of methodical thinking to help diagnose equipment issues applying Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to breakdowns and to ensure any identified corrective and preventative actions are completed.
3. Identify, drive, implement and sustain production equipment best settings, equipment training and process improvements.
4. Identify and drive future business investments resulting in automation & recommended process improvements.
5. To liaise and supervise contractors and service engineers for external activities, ensuring safe working procedures are adhered to while avoiding interruption to manufacturing and ensuring all contractors are compliant.
6. To co-ordinate and schedule service work in line with manufacturing and production requirements.
7. To maintain the Engineering asset management database in line with company procedures.
8. To use Lean tools to implement continuous improvement and process change initiatives e.g. Kaizen activity, 5S, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and be actively involved in the company’s continuous improvement program.
9. Performing to measures within specific goals aligned with departmental plans and the company goals.
10. To drive assigned capital expenditure projects through to completion.
11. To comply with all health, safety and environmental rules, policies, procedures and any other instructions relevant to working within their area of the company.
Your Background - Electrical Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Pharmaceutical and Packaging
Applications are welcome from Maintenance Engineers or Service Engineers from a wide range of Electrical or Mechanical backgrounds, as full and comprehensive manufacturers-based training will be provided on an ongoing basis as new products are introduced. What is crucial is a background in the service and repair of Electrical Mechanical factory based capital equipment, gained within either a site based manufacturing environment or a field service based role. Experience of working on PLC controlled systems and packaging equipment would be advantageous, although this is by no means essential.
* HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Proven experience in FMCG Pharma/Food industry experience in a process, packing or manufacturing environment.
* Working to ISO13485, FDA, TUV or other regulated manufacturing environments.
* IT Literacy required and a working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Proven track record of improvement project involvement and delivery.
* Demonstrate role model behaviour at all times in order to develop internal and external customer relations.
* Must be able to participate in an On-call Rota, therefore it is essential to live within 1 hour commuting distance of the facility.
