Full time/part time: Full-Time, 37.50 hours per week, with a flexible working shift pattern plus additional on-call commitments
As the Highly Specialised Clinical Cardiac Physiologist at Bupa, our patients will be your top priority. We are looking to appoint an exceptional individual to lead the team providing Cardiac Physiology Services within the Clinical Investigation Centre, specialising in Complex Diagnostics.
You will have a proven specialist background in Echocardiology and Non-Invasive Cardiac Physiology Diagnostics. You will report to the Lead Cardiac Physiologist while working closely with other department leaders within Cardiac Services.
This position offers an opportunity for training in our CathLabs or to extend skills in the area of syncope assessment.
You’ll help us make health happen by:
The HS Clinical Cardiac Physiologist specialising in Echocardiography will plan and implement operational policies and procedures and assist in extending Cardiac Physiology services.
You will support specialised consultants with service delivery and resources within a multidisciplinary department, managing the day-to-day performance, creating and maintaining KPIs, and ensuring that project milestones and goals are met.
You will perform a range of highly specialised cardiac ultrasound investigations, including adult transthoracic, contrast echocardiograms, 3D echocardiograms, dobutamine stress echocardiograms, assisting with transoesophageal echocardiograms, interpreting findings, and independently issuing final clinically diagnostic reports.
You should be an independent practitioner, able to perform and report resting transthoracic scans and rhythm analysis.
You will lead quality assurance in attaining clinical governance standards and manage Cardiac Physiology audit programmes, providing monthly data as requested.
You will also carry out some administrative and housekeeping tasks, as well as having professional responsibility in addition to the clinical duties detailed above.
What you'll do:
1. To undertake echocardiographic investigations including adult, contrast echocardiograms, bubble studies, dobutamine echocardiograms, and assist with transoesophageal echocardiograms.
2. To recognise the significance of investigative findings and act on them accordingly.
3. To perform and interpret 12 lead ECG's; Fit, removal and analysis of 24-hour Holter/BP monitors; Perform and interpret Exercise Treadmill Tests.
4. To assist in Syncope assessment including Tilt Table Testing, Autonomic Function Testing, Signal Average ECG.
5. To perform CRM Device interrogations in clinic, inpatients or pre-assessment settings.
6. To assist in maintaining an ordered filing and retrieval system of patients' recordings, measurements, and reports.
7. To help with the maintenance of consumable stocks within budgetary constraints.
8. To be trained and accredited under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and provide Immediate Life Support (ILS) when necessary.
9. To be self-motivated and resourceful, demonstrating evidence of continuous professional development.
What you’ll bring:
1. BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology or BSc in Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology) or PTP equivalence.
2. Transthoracic (TTE) Level 2 accreditation or Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography Certification.
3. Knowledge and experience of advanced and highly specialised procedures acquired through accredited courses.
4. Able to perform a range of specialist diagnostic investigations on patients.
5. Devices (Desirable).
