Senior 2nd Line IT Support Engineer - Hull - £28,000 to £35,000
Principal IT are working with a public safety business that supports the emergency services across the UK. They are currently on the lookout for a Senior 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join them on a permanent basis.
To be successful in this role, they are looking for someone who can hit the ground running in a challenging environment. Your responsibilities within this role will include assisting in the provision of a first-class, customer-focused support facility to internal and external customers, ensuring any fault resolution and support in line with the appropriate Service Level Agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring all assigned tickets raised are progressed and updated, in accordance with the relevant Service Level Agreements.
2. Ensuring the customer is informed of any updates, and calls are escalated to the relevant person.
3. Building and maintaining good relationships with customer contacts.
4. Creation and maintenance of customer documentation and provision of training to other support personnel on the intricacies of customer architecture.
5. Provision of on-site support (usually during business hours but out of hours if required) to customers and 3rd party suppliers, both in the UK and internationally.
6. Provision of assistance to other internal departments to investigate ongoing customer issues.
7. Developing and maintaining a knowledge of our clients' software and configuration tools.
8. Visit customer sites to perform advanced diagnostics when required.
9. To operate in accordance with all departmental and business procedures.
10. Travelling to sites across the UK and sometimes (but not likely) worldwide (expenses and fuel paid for).
Essential Skills:
1. A huge passion for IT and technology.
2. Experience in a similar IT support role is essential.
3. Excellent knowledge of IT products including Microsoft Windows Server, Core Infrastructure Server Hardware, Virtualisation, Exchange/Office 365, Azure, Security Solutions (Anti-Virus, Firewalls etc.).
4. Office 365 environments (Exchange, Sharepoint, Teams, Intune & Autopilot).
5. Active Directory/Azure Active Directory.
6. Windows 10/Windows 11 Troubleshooting.
7. Security Knowledge.
8. Firewall Troubleshooting.
9. Network Troubleshooting (VLANs, DNS, DHCP).
Further Details:
1. Participation on the 'Out of hours' rota to provide support to customers.
2. In order to be considered for this role, you must have a driving license.
3. You must have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
4. You must be able to pass a government security check.
