Role summary/ Job purpose The Receptionist will provide a welcoming environment for all visitors to the NBC, including Olympic athletes, Gym & Badminton club members, Museum guests, Hotel lodge guests, and the Badminton England office team. The role requires someone customer-focused and capable of handling a variety of tasks. Main responsibilities Customer Service & Operational Management: Create a warm, welcoming environment for customers and team members. Provide excellent customer service – be open, friendly, confident, and approachable. Represent Badminton England, embodying our values and promoting a positive brand image. Handle transactions with ease and operate the cashless register efficiently. Answer telephone/emails promptly, directing callers to the appropriate contact point. Manage all members' and visitors' queries, resolving or escalating as necessary. Maintain an organised front desk area, ensuring it is tidy and presentable. Assist with daily operations of the National Badminton Centre, maintaining facilities. Be a Key Holder, assisting with opening and closing the centre on a shift basis. Cleansing tasks as per operational procedures. Process transactions accurately for sales and bookings. Book conference room bookings. Place orders where relevant. Provide administrative support to other team members when required. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations across all areas. Maintain emergency response readiness, assisting with evacuation coordination. Be First Aid Qualified – complete accident/incident reports following First Aid incidents. Communication: Contribute to effective handovers of responsibilities. Manage customer complaints, operational challenges, and sales inquiries efficiently. Respond to all booking.com messages and reviews promptly. Foster a motivating work environment by living our values. Encourage all lodge guests to book directly through our website. Qualifications & Skills: Team player, keen to develop ideas to improve customer experiences. Strong customer service skills. Excellent communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment. Great PC skills – ability to use various software packages including Excel. Additional Requirements: First Aid certification (training provided if needed). Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
