We have an exciting role for a highly motivated and hardworking individual to join the MBDA's Media Relations and Social Media team. This dynamic role offers the opportunity to develop and shape the external image of a leading European defence company, working within a multinational in-house communications department. Salary : Circa £50,000 depending on experience. Dynamic (hybrid) working : 2-3 days per week on-site due depending on workload and business needs. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team. Facilities : fantastic site facilities including subsidised meals, free car parking and much more… The opportunity: What you'll be doing: Working with internal collaborators to help communicate MBDA's strategic priorities to a diverse external audience and providing external communications support and advice Identifying potential news stories and social media content Developing and delivering external communications plans focused on MBDA's business objectives, ESG and EVP work, and industry-to-industry engagement activities Preparing and proposing for validation engaging content for use across owned, earned, social, paid media channels to support all aspects of external communications activities Supporting the delivery of media relations activities, such as press conferences, and exhibitions Responding to media enquiries in a timely and professional manner Monitoring media coverage, measuring the effectiveness of communications activity, and preparing reports Building and maintaining strong relationships with international, national, local and trade media Building and maintaining good working relationships with colleagues and partners in the UK business and across all of MBDA's national companies and export territories Providing support to the wider communications team in the development of engaging cross-functional content for use on MBDA's channels and supporting the creation of content for use across all external channels Supporting other communications activities from time to time as requested by the senior leaders within MBDA's Communication Directorate Operate as part of the UK's Incident Management Team when required The role will require some UK domestic and occasional international travel What we're looking for from you: Self-motivated and a teammate, able to work effectively with a range of collaborators. Creativity with evidence of delivering successful communications content and activities that deliver positive outcomes and impact with intended audiences Thoroughness with an attention to detail, with shown copy writing skills and proof reading experience, and the ability to work to deadlines and achieve objectives Initiative to anticipate and mitigate potential issues or conflict with a positive attitude to problem solving Displaying good judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance multiple collaborators' needs in a dynamic work setting Direct experience of working in an in-house communications team, agency or media outlet and a level of experience within a communications related field or considerable work experience in an appropriate role Desirable: A recognised PR or journalism or equivalent qualification and/or membership of a professional body (e.g. CIPR, PRCA, or CIM). Experience of working in large, complex organisations with a broad range of stakeholders. Working in the defence industry, engineering and manufacturing, or related sectors.
