Responsibilities
* Support assigned shifts in EHS matters including attendance at daily operational performance meetings.
* Work with Operations, Projects and other functions to promote good EHS practices and raise issues early for resolution.
* Support shifts to resolve Near Misses and contribute to accident investigations if required by shift
* Conduct site wide inspections and Safety GEMBAs to include but not limited to:
o Live Safe GEMBA.
o Environmental.
o Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance.
o Fire Protection.
o Working and walking surfaces.
o Contractor Control.
* Support the Management of PPE on site ensuring correct specifications, issue is recorded and suitable supply available. Support EHS Management system PPE Duty Holder (EHS59) as required. Complete face fit testing for respiratory protective equipment.
* Specific responsibility for EHS management standards – according to site requirements: including Waste Management, spill prevention, Walking Working Surfaces.
* Complete and review Risk Assessments include but not limited to:
o Control of substances hazardous to health
o Task based risks
o Provision and use of work equipment regulations, working alongside EHS standard duty holder.
o Ergonomic / manual handlings
* Support Trainers by delivering EHS Training Courses to include but not limited to:
o EHS element of site inductions.
o Manual Handling.
o Explosion risk awareness.
o Chemical awareness.
o Safe working procedure development.
* Promote a strong EHS culture through effective communications, promotional campaigns and safety coaching.
* Environmental
o Assist with environmental risk assessments
o Assist with environmental auditing as requested
o Support organisation of spill response, sampling analysis in the event of an environmental incident
o Support engagement activities for energy, water and waste management
Qualifications
* Passion for health, safety and the environment with the ability to engage others in the EHS agenda (a people person), driving EHS within all functions and at all times.
* Good coordination skills, able to manage own time and gain commitment from others with reference to action and improvement plans.
* Excellent communication skills - able to communicate & challenge clearly and confidently at all levels - 1:1, in writing and presenting in group situations.
* Motivates others and displays integrity and trust.
* Flexible, can be available for support for rare occasions whereby operations / campaigns require.
* PC literate and comfortable working with spreadsheets.
* Good working knowledge of the site and processes there in.
* Root Cause Analysis.
* Aptitude to complete NEBOSH General Certificate, having this qualification already would be a strong advantage
* Good working knowledge of PPE standards to meet site requirements, e.g EN166 for eye protection.
