We are seeking three Senior Category Managers specialising in either Information Services, Professional Services, and Research and Development (R&D) for a key central government body. This role requires highly experienced professionals with deep expertise in strategic sourcing and procurement within each specific category. Our client does not want a generalist. You must be a specialist in one of the three categories listed and this must be shown on your CV. You will be responsible for leading and managing complex strategies relating to your relevant category.
Key Responsibilities:
* Category Strategy Development: Design and implement complex category strategies for information services, professional services, and research and development, aimed at delivering efficiencies and cost savings.
* Procurement Leadership: Manage the procurement team and provide expert advisory and guidance in high-profile procurements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives, to develop strategies that meet the organisation’s needs.
* Supplier Negotiation & Management: Lead negotiations with key suppliers, ensuring the best value and outcomes are achieved for the organisation.
* Cost Tracking & Efficiency Initiatives: Implement and oversee cost tracking strategies, ensuring delivery of savings and optimisation of resources.
* Collaborative Working: Work closely with external partners, suppliers, and key internal stakeholders to build strong relationships and drive successful outcomes.
Essential Criteria:
* Expert in Information Services OR Professional Services OR Research and Development: Extensive experience in strategic sourcing and category management specific to information services, professional services, and research and development is essential. This is not a generalist role; you must have deep knowledge and expertise in this category.
* Matrix Organisation Experience: Experience working in large, complex matrix organisations, managing procurement strategies at a senior level.
* Track Record of Success: Proven ability to lead and implement category strategies, not just support them. You must demonstrate leadership in delivering efficiencies, cost savings, and process improvements.
* Stakeholder Management: Experience in engaging with senior-level stakeholders, including C-suite executives, and guiding high-profile procurement decisions.
* Public and Private Sector Experience: A combination of public and private sector experience within Information services, professional services, and research and development is highly desirable.

* In-Depth Market Knowledge: You should possess comprehensive market knowledge within Information services, professional services, and research and development and have a track record of implementing cost-effective procurement solutions.
* Collaborative Leadership: Ability to work collaboratively with suppliers, external partners, and internal teams to drive success.
