Description:
Experienced electrical and controls engineering professional required to follow hardware and software design projects from concept through to handover on a range of automated machinery solutions.
Our client can demonstrate almost half a century’s expertise in the design, development and manufacture of bespoke special purpose automation solutions for a diverse range of industry sectors and applications and are regarded by many in the industry as one of the leading automation systems providers in the whole of the UK.
As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth for and beyond, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and proactive Electrical and Controls Engineer to complement their established and successful multidisciplinary systems team and play a critical role in the design and delivery of machine control solutions for a range of special purpose automated machinery-based projects.
Tasked with delivering control and safety systems that comply with the requirements of the machinery directive, you will undertake electrical system design on a range of projects as well as the associated selection and procurement of components and generating detailed circuit diagrams and follow machine control and safety system projects through to development and commissioning stages.
In addition, you will also be responsible for the creation of electrical documentation including circuit diagrams and BOM’s, and for ensuring that machine electrical systems and safety systems comply with all relevant UKCA and CE mark, UK, European and international safety standards whilst maintaining clear and concise technical documentation, design specifications and machine manuals.
Able to supervise electrical technicians and control the build of the machine control systems, you will be instrumental in the development of a standardised approach to the delivery of efficient and cost-effective control systems whilst ensuring on time and within budget project delivery (and in the case of medical sector projects work, to the requirements of a regulated system such as GAMP 5).
To be considered for this exceptional opportunity with one of our longest standing clients, you will realistically be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant electrical, electrical or controls engineering discipline and realistically able to demonstrate at least 5 years previous experience gained within an electrical design for automation or special purpose machinery controls environment, with knowledge of ePlan proving distinctly advantageous.
You will demonstrate a basic understanding of software design and PLC coding with exposure to B&R, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens and Rockwell all proving beneficial for the position. You will possess excellent communication skills (both written and oral) at all levels as well as a flexible approach to travel to customer sites as required.
