Working within the Storage and Virtualisation team in Build, Core Infrastructure within ISS, this role presents an excellent opportunity for you to build, or to further develop, your IT career working within enterprise-class datacentre environments. You will be joining a progressive technical team which manages the university's storage and virtualisation demands and ensures efficiency, availability and security of these services. Your role will be to help maintain, develop and support a range of virtualisation systems including systems administration tasks such as keeping physical hosts and virtual Servers patched and secure.
Ideally, you will have proven technical skills, good problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills and you will be able to interpret and represent the needs of the consumers of the services which this team provides and supports. You will be joining a growing and supportive team which is passionate about reaching your potential and passionate about driving the technology in which we have invested to its full potential.
You will need excellent organisational and communication skills, a courteous and professional manner together with an enthusiasm for working in a service focused, project and programme environment.
We are seeking to appoint a person keen to learn and develop in the team who is interested in storage, virtualisation both on premise and in the cloud. A successful candidate should be positive and self -motivated, wanting to learn through working closely with the team, wider ISS and external sources.
It is essential any candidate is able to attain UK government security clearance.
The successful applicant may have an opportunity to complete an appropriate apprenticeship relevant to the role.
