Job summary
The successful applicant will join an evolving and dynamic team expected to work as an experienced and autonomous practitioner in Clinical Perfusion Science contributing to the treatment of patients with varied pathologies. The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties detailed within the job description in order to successfully deliver a variety of clinical services including conventional cardiac surgery, complex aortic, cardiothoracic transplantation, adult congenital heart disease, liver surgery, and MCS support. The post holder will be expected to take responsibility for a specific clinical and non-clinical aspect of the service that best suits the needs of the department and will participate in a 24 hour on-call rota. It will be expected that the successful applicant will divide time between clinical and managerial responsibility as required whilst ensuring CPD is maintained. All required training and supervision will be provided. Opportunity will exist to support the treatment of NHS patients through local private healthcare providers. A recruitment and retention premium is applied to this post and reviewed annually.

The Senior Perfusionist will work up to 4 days per week undertaking a shift pattern to suit the needs of the clinical service. They will also be expected to contribute to out of hours work requiring a 30 minute response time.

1. * PgDip Perfusion Science
2. * Accredited with the Society of Clinical Perfusion Scientist
3. * Registered with the College of Clinical Perfusion Scientists
Desirable
4. * MSc Perfusion or equivalent
Experience

5. * Proven continuous experience in specialised perfusion techniques
6. * Evidence of CPD
Desirable
7. * Experience in perfusion techniques including: Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumping, Short & Long Term VADS, Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation, Vacuum Assisted Venous Drainage, Blood conservation, Transplantation & Organ Retrieval
8. * Minimum 4 years qualified as a Clinical Perfusionist
