The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Surveyor to be responsible for working on a contract basis for one of our clients, a tier 1 contractor. The work will significantly enhance the visual impact of the area, burying a network of overhead cables and removing a number of pylons to restore and protect the natural beauty, wildlife and environmental heritage of this precious landscape.
The role
Contract This role has been deemed outside IR35 but is dependent on a full status determination assessment.
Duration: 12 months
Location: North Wales
Rate: £400 - £500 per day (Negotiable)
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Use advanced surveying instruments and technologies to establish precise control points, alignments, and benchmarks for tunnel excavation
Responsible for monitoring works relating to piling and drilling
Conduct comprehensive tunnel surveys to ensure accurate dimensions, alignment, and gradient compliance
Read and interpret drawings
Generate accurate as-built drawings, cross-sections, and reports to document tunnel construction progress
Perform laser scanning and point cloud analysis to create 3D models of tunnel profiles
Supervise, assist and mentor Graduate Surveyors/Junior Surveyors
Liaise with the client and other key stakeholders throughout the whole project.
Monitor and analyse tunnel deformation, settlement, and convergence using specialising monitoring equipment and software
Ensure all Occupational Health and Safety procedures are being adhered to.
Manage and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure they are in optimal condition for accurate measurements.You will have the following qualifications & experience
Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying or any other related fields.
Proven experience in monitoring works.
Familiarity with geotechnical concepts and monitoring methods.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Be able to work in confined spaces.
Good understanding of/experience with modern survey instrumentation.
Proficiency in using total stations, laser scanners, GPS equipment, and other related software tools.

Risks and Hazards are in line with working in an office. These can include display screen equipment, stress, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, fire and emergency, work equipment and electrical safety and temperature. A full induction will be provided and all safety requirements must be adhered to when entering the building.
