Technology Directorate The Technology Strategy and Architecture (TSA) division and Technology Directorate are responsible for both LOB and enterprise direction-setting, consulting, and governing of technology and architectural choices and investments for the Bank. This is achieved through influencing or owning the development of coherent strategy, business cases, investment portfolios and architecturally significant operational choices. In addition TSA provides and maintains target, transitional, and solution architectures and their roadmaps to ensure the delivery of both business and operational concerns Job Description You will be responsible for shaping and driving improvements across Enterprise Architecture (EA) and Technology to help guide decisions and investments within Technology and the wider Bank. Your key focus will be on advancing application portfolio management, managing risk, supporting senior leadership with insights, and ensuring strong governance in architecture and investments. You'll also be working on building strategic patterns and expanding standards while leading a talented team. You'll play a pivotal role in defining and executing sub-strategies that align with the overall Technology strategy, alongside planning and investment recommendations. As part of a wider tech and architecture community, you'll collaborate closely with the CIO, CTO, and Deputy CIOs, as well as peer principals in different business and architectural domains. You'll also help ensure alignment across divisions, with a special focus on driving innovation and consistency in both traditional and modern infrastructure. The role will include: Shaping and evolving the enterprise architecture and infrastructure strategy Developing and maintaining infrastructure target architectures and roadmaps for scalable solutions Leading architectural and commercial governance, including business case development and assessment Providing expert consulting on enterprise-wide challenges in collaboration with Technology and business teams Leading and mentoring a team of enterprise and technology architects, driving their growth and performance Identifying and addressing architectural skill gaps within the Bank Number of direct reports: 5 permanent with variable contract staff Role Requirements: Minimum Criteria Established track record as a leading Enterprise Architect, notably in technology, infrastructure, and security and identity. Ideally this experience is in multiple industry verticals with both public and private sector Work history spanning employment within organisations and as a professional consultant to client organisations Demonstrable exposure to critical national infrastructure environments, services, and programmes with associated government security clearance Proven background in leading enterprise and solution architecture teams directly and indirectly You have led technology architectural direction and governance for £100M portfolios or contracts Experience in and governance of EA work across diverse delivery methodologies both procedural and agile Experience in the direction and management of multiple deployment models across on-premise, private and public cloud, and SaaS and BPaaS models Essential Criteria Team management experience, including leading and influencing personnel in a highly matrixed model with ambitious function targets Experience of communicating to the C-Suite and can create a compelling narrative and inspire people to follow you Ability to build trusted relationships at all levels of an organisation, enabling you to have difficult conversations in pursuit of a common objective. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £84,960 - £95,580 London circa £94,400 - £106,200 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
