Reporting to the Operations & Maintenance Manager, the Operations & Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing support in the implementation of the operations and maintenance strategy for Moray West Offshore Wind Farm. The Technician will work closely with the Operations & Maintenance Engineer and Maintenance Planner. The Technician is responsible for the on-site performance of operation and maintenance activities relating to civil and structural infrastructure (both onshore and offshore), Balance of Plant Electrical equipment, Wind Turbine Generators, quayside facilities, and OFTO assets as required.
Main Accountabilities
1. Responsible for the supervision of contractors (as required).
2. Supporting pre-take over and routine asset inspection activities.
3. Supporting the safe and efficient handover of assets from construction and commissioning teams.
4. Responsible for the close out of snagging items.
5. Responsible for the performance of interim, preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance activities as defined.
6. Perform servicing, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic components.
7. Repair of paint and/or coating systems.
8. General cleaning of boat landings and substructures.
9. Prepare, pack, and transport tools and equipment for maintenance activities.
10. Management and use of tools, test equipment, and personal protective equipment.
11. Responsible for the prompt reporting and investigation of defects and underperformance.
12. Supporting subcontractors in the execution of scopes of inspection and maintenance activity.
13. Provision of client oversight on all WTG Main component and other major repair activity carried out by all subcontractors on behalf of MOWEL.
14. Daily reporting on Operational Status using software systems.
15. Assist with the authoring and regular update of all Approved Written Procedures (AWP), along with Method Statements and Risk Assessments for operational activities.
16. Use of operations management systems and planning tools.
Academic Background
1. Have completed a full apprenticeship in control instrumentation, mechanical or electrical engineering; formal qualifications such as BTEC or HNC would be advantageous but not essential.
2. Evidence of extensive industry-specific technical training.
3. All current offshore certifications.
4. IOSH Managing Safely (Preferable).
Experience
1. Extensive experience in an O&M environment within offshore wind, marine, or Oil and Gas industry (preferably 3 to 5 years).
2. Meet the physical and medical requirements for working offshore, can work at heights and in restricted or confined spaces.
3. Experienced in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical components.
4. Experience of installation and/or commissioning of offshore assets.
5. Experience of the management of statutory written schemes of examination (Preferable).
6. Offshore or WTG experience at technician level within a Turbine OEM (Preferable).
7. Experience of electro-mechanical safety rules systems and WTG safety rules (preferably with experience as an authorized person).
Knowledge
1. Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.
2. Knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations.
3. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Preferable).
4. Knowledge of Electro Mechanical or WTG Safety Rules, advantageous but not essential.
The role will primarily be based at the O&M Centre located in Buckie but will also require frequent travel to the offshore assets via Crew Transfer Vessel and Service Operation Vessel. The working pattern will be a rota system which is anticipated to be 2 weeks on/2 weeks off rota, 12 hours per day (weather permitting). O&M Technicians will provide out of hours on-call support, as part of an emergency response rota or work weekends (when required). Candidates must be based or willing to be located close to the Buckie area, ideally within 30 mins drive. A full driving license is required.
