About the Role
We are looking for an Assistant Facilities Manager to join our multi-disciplinary facilities management team at St Helens Hospital. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our hospitals meet and exceed standards in sustainability, energy management, and statutory compliance. The successful candidate will oversee utilities management, waste reduction, and environmental initiatives, helping to drive the Trust’s carbon reduction and net-zero commitments.
Responsibilities
1. Utilities & Waste Management: Lead a cost-effective utilities management service, ensuring adherence to energy and waste reduction targets, including compliance with environmental regulations and corporate social responsibility (CSR) standards.
2. Risk & Compliance: Conduct risk assessments, develop method statements, and ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including COSHH and health and safety legislation.
3. Energy & Environmental Strategy: Implement and promote an energy management strategy, monitor energy consumption, manage sustainability projects, and prepare reports on progress toward environmental goals.
4. Project Management: Provide project management for capital and revenue schemes within budget and time constraints, including developing and overseeing energy conservation projects.
5. Data & Reporting: Prepare statutory returns, manage energy and water data, and develop annual reports to meet Trust and governmental standards.
6. Operational Oversight: Manage the Building Management System (BMS) and Energy Management System (EMS), ensuring facilities operate efficiently and contribute to the Trust’s sustainability agenda.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
1. Proven experience in utilities, energy management, or environmental services, ideally within a healthcare or facilities management setting.
2. Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, risk management, and energy conservation practices.
3. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
4. Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CAFM), BMS, and EMS is a plus.
5. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and respond to on-call requests as needed.
