About the role:
We are looking to recruit a full-time Project Manager for 14 months on a fixed-term contract basis starting May 2025 to cover a maternity leave. The Project Manager will be based onsite a minimum of 3 days per week from our Manchester HQ.
As a Project Manager, you will proactively use project management methodologies to own and drive high complexity projects from initiation through to completion. You will co-ordinate cross functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget and to a high standard. The number of projects you manage will be dependent upon their size and complexity.
Key responsibilities:
Planning and management
* Apply project management methodologies to deliver projects on time, to budget and meeting quality standards
* Utilise project management software to manage projects and assist others in the use of project management tools
* Work with cross-functional teams to design project plans, work packages, Gantt charts, monitor timelines and produce reports on the progress of projects
* Ensure that the Charter is monitored and remains fit for purpose
* Generate RACI matrices for projects and ensure that stakeholders are engaged and informed on the progress of the project
* Own project RAID logs, working with teams to put in place mitigations and escalating risks and issues where required
* Estimate the project budget in partnership with the Team Lead
* Oversight and completion of Design/Stage Gate Reviews of the project
* Organise close-down activities at project completion to include post project review and transfer of project assets/knowledge to ensure that lessons learnt inform future developments
Communication
* Arrange and lead cross-functional project meetings, ensuring agendas and meeting materials are provided in advance, minutes and decisions are logged and communicated after the meeting
* Identify internal and external stakeholders and plan and build collaborative working relationships
* Manage the communication with internal and external stakeholders, providing clear progress updates
* Escalate issues to Sponsors or senior stakeholders with options for decisions when required
Training and development
* Support the induction and training of new members of staff
* Take part in training and development activities relevant to the role
* Encourage and support the development and training of other staff
Other
* Contributing to project analysis enabling KPI and report production
* To own the Design History File and ensure product related projects comply with the relevant quality and regulatory standards and the design requirements/specifications
Working environment:
This is a hybrid role based from our Manchester HQ. You will be required to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week.
About you:
* First degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
* Professional qualification in APM, Prince2 or other recognised project management methodology is preferred
* A range of operational and project management tools and techniques that you utilise to manage complex projects involving cross-functional teams
* Effective and persuasive communicator demonstrating verbal, written and presentation skills with a high degree of personal credibility
* Ability to prioritise and deliver multiple parallel projects in a fast-paced environment to time and high quality, utilising excellent organizational skills with superb attention to detail, with a thorough and systematic approach to projects and associated tasks
* The ability to establish effective working relationships with a range of external and internal stakeholders at all levels, ideally in a scientific setting
* Ability to analyse and synthesise highly complex information and present it clearly and precisely, both verbally and in written formats
* Confident negotiation skills, and the ability to deliver contentious information in a sensitive manner
* A proactive attitude and creative problem solver who is able to identify issues, manage conflict, develop options appraisals and recommend solutions.
* Ability to use standard Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams and SharePoint
