As a Maintenance Operations Manager (MOM), you will play a crucial role in shaping the highways that connect communities and drive progress across the Abingdon Residency in the Bristol District of VDOT. You will assist VDOT leadership in coordinating, integrating, and managing resources allocated to the maintenance program. You will plan and direct maintenance operations, develop and manage workforce development, maintenance schedules, long-range strategic plans, organizational initiatives, and budgets. Additionally, you will coordinate and direct emergency operations, including inclement weather and disaster response. You will play a key role in maintaining and preserving Virginia's infrastructure, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, and enhancing the economy of the Commonwealth.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Ability to plan and coordinate resources, manage multiple projects and schedules; assess training needs and provide workforce development opportunities.
2. Considerable knowledge of federal and state highway and transportation rules, regulations, and policies.
3. Valid driver's license.
4. Ability effectively communicate orally and in writing with the general public, property owners, contractors, and VDOT staff.
5. Skill in the use of computers and software applications.
6. Considerable knowledge of inventory management.
7. Ability to supervise and manage diverse staff by analyzing needs, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations to support organizational values and goals.
8. Considerable knowledge of roadway constructions and maintenance operations, equipment, materials, and techniques.
9. Ability to understand, apply, and advocate for safety standards and procedures for implementation into the workforce.
Additional Considerations
1. Progressively responsible experience in budget management and allocations.
2. Progressively responsible experience in the management and supervision of roadway maintenance or construction activities.
3. A combination of training, experience, or education in Engineering, Public Administration or related field desired.
4. DEQ: Inspector for Erosion Sediment Control (ESC IN).
5. Experience developing and promoting effective workforce teams that demonstrate VDOT's core competency model.
6. Experience or skill in the use of automated financial software; advanced skill in computers a plus.
