About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the transition of new products from the development phase to full-scale production. The candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful launch of new products by coordinating various activities and resolving any issues that may arise during the NPI process in a very fast moving and dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for creating designs and technical drawings for electromechanical devices, components and assembly jigs/fixture using SolidWorks, performing tolerance, dimensional and stress calculations.
Responsibilities
* Lead the cross-functional team involved in the introduction of new products, including engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales and other relevant departments.
* Develop and execute project plans, ensuring that key milestones are achieved on time and within budget. Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
* Collaborate with the technical and engineering teams to ensure that new products are optimised for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing. Provide feedback on design concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Define and establish the manufacturing processes required for new products. Work closely with production teams to develop assembly methods, equipment requirements, and work instructions.
* Identify areas for process optimisation and cost reduction. Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to drive efficiency and quality improvements.
* Collaborate with the quality team to develop and implement quality control plans for new products. Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
* Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of materials and components required for new product manufacturing. Develop strong relationships with suppliers to resolve any supply chain issues.
* Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them. Anticipate challenges related to production capacity, quality, or resource constraints, and develop strategies to overcome them.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of NPI activities, including project plans, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures. Provide regular progress reports to management.
* Foster effective communication and collaboration across different departments and stakeholders involved in the NPI process. Act as a liaison between engineering, technical, manufacturing, planning and other teams.
Requirements
* A qualification in engineering or a related field is essential.
* Additional certifications in project management or quality management are desirable.
* Previous experience in NPI or product launch activities, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Understanding of manufacturing processes, including assembly, testing, and quality control.
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
* Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
* Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
* Flexibility and adaptability to navigate through changing priorities and requirements
* Proficient in the use of SolidWorks 3D CAD.
