Engineering Manager, East Kilbride, Glasgow 4 days working week. As Engineering Manager, you will undertake a key role in the Engineering department which is the technical authority of the business in the development, design and production of technically sound and viable solutions to our customer’s problems. This position requires the ability to manage multiple engineering resources, develop a department plan to achieve company expectations, and recruit, grow, and train employees in complex engineering disciplines as required to meet company objectives. This role is based in East Kilbride, Scotland. Key responsibilities: • Manage the output and function of the Engineering Department, providing solutions aligned to the customers’ requirements. • Overall responsibility for research and development, including all engineering and mechanical designs, material selection, maintaining development schedules, compliance to various design Codes and contract requirements, producing progress reports, and all other activities associated with R&D. • Confer with management, production, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures required to meet customer requirements. • Provide technical support on customer enquiries to enable the Sales department to bid and successfully win business. • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities to achieve requirements. • Analyse technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects giving solutions/requirements. • Direct, review, and approve product design and changes. • Recruit employees, assign, direct, and evaluate their work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence. • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department, service, or company. • Develop, deploy, monitor, and measure internal design standards within all engineering sub-groups. • Provide technical expertise on strategic initiatives and present key industry trends to senior management to include creating and deploying new and unique approaches in automation. • Promote good communication and engagement amongst internal and external teams to ensure customer expectations are met. • Inspire, mentor, grow and develop engineering talent while providing vision and direction for the team. Quality Shall provide evidence of their commitment to the development and implementation of the quality management system and continually improve its effectiveness by: • Communicating to the organisation the importance of meeting customer as well as statutory and regulatory requirements. e.g. CE Marking, PED, ATEX. • Involved in establishing the quality policy. • Ensuring that quality objectives are established, monitored, and achieved. • Ensuring resources are made available to achieve quality objectives. What you will need: • Degree/Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering Function (Mechanical) and/or equivalent job experience. • 5 years of experience in a related/ similar mechanical engineering role, preferably within a supervisory/ mentoring capacity. • Experience in mechanical engineering design and analysis in the field of industrial rotating machinery such as pumps and mixers. • Strong SolidWorks skills with the ability to conduct analysis with manual or finite element analysis techniques. • Thorough understanding of pertinent codes, governing regulations, and industry practice. • Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications. • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles associated with the design, analysis, and operation of rotating equipment such as pumps and mixers. • Proficient in SolidWorks, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. • Professional Engineer Registration or ability to gain registration and experience in EN, ASME, API standards are desirable. • Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
