Job Description:
At Childline, we give young people a voice when they need someone to listen.
We want to be there for every child or young person who needs our support, any day of the year, any time of day or night. Childline is one service, with three core offers for children and young people:
* Childline Universal (available 24/7 and focused on being there for children and young people who contact us on a one-off or irregular basis)
* Childline Connect (available 365 days a year during peak hours and focused on giving those that contact us regularly consistent support)
* Childline Online (our online community for all children and young people to access advice, guidance, and support 24/7 when, where, and how they want).
We're currently recruiting for a range of full-time and part-time roles in our Childline Universal twilight teams.
We are hiring for 28-hour positions in Childline Belfast, but are open to applications from those interested in full-time or 17.5-hour roles, which we can discuss during the interview.
In this role, you will support our peak service hours, especially during late and overnight hours when children and young people often feel most alone. You will use your skills to support volunteers and may directly support children and young people by responding to contacts as a Childline Practitioner (Twilight). You will also lead on safeguarding decisions during shifts and use coaching to maintain and develop service quality. Additionally, you will ensure every child and young person receives high-quality support and provide supervision, coaching, feedback, training, and support to volunteers outside of shifts.
You will have the opportunity to make a positive difference for thousands of children and young people each year.
We support hundreds of thousands of children across the UK annually, many of whom seek our support at night. As a Childline Practitioner (Twilight), you will deliver this vital service alongside a dedicated team sharing your values of supporting children and young people.
You will work a hybrid rota with a mix of daytime, twilight, and night shifts over a 6-week pattern, including weekend work every three weeks (or every six weeks for 17.5-hour contracts). There is built-in time for extended weekends, and one-third of working days can be done from home. All Childline Practitioners (Twilight) receive a 10.5% rota allowance on top of their basic salary. An example rota pattern is attached to this advert.
We're looking for talented individuals who prioritize putting children first:
To succeed, you should:
* Have a strong background working with children and young people within a safeguarding context
* Believe in our mission and want to support all children and young people
* Have a passion for supporting others, especially in emotionally challenging situations
Please refer to the full person specification in the job description. We ask all candidates to address and demonstrate how they meet each point in their supporting statement (up to 10,000 characters).
Our rolling recruitment process allows us to respond quickly to applications and progress candidates before the vacancy closes. The vacancy will close once all positions are filled.
Apply today and join a team that cares about their work and colleagues. Discover opportunities to grow, face challenges, and make a meaningful difference in young lives.
The NSPCC is committed to equality and diversity and encourages applications from talented individuals of all backgrounds. We support equal employment opportunities for all staff without discrimination.
