About the role
Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer or Lecturer in Actuarial Science to assist in the delivery of the the existing undergraduate and the new postgraduate programmes in Actuarial Science and Data Analytics.
About You
The successful candidate will be a Fellow or Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and have professional or teaching experience relevant to actuarial science. They will be expected to develop links with the profession and industry to foster knowledge exchange between university and industry, including work experience opportunities for students. At Senior Lecturer level they will have substantial experience of leading on the delivery and development of taught programmes as well as some relevant industrial experience. At Lecturer level they will have the knowledge and ability to teach across a range of topics in actuarial science, in particular the Core Statistics and Core Modelling subjects (CS1, CS2, CM1, CM2).
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
The School is part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, which comprises of five schools and two institutes. The Faculty’s student population has grown in recent years, both within the UK and overseas, and its research profile has strengthened considerably.
The School comprises 85 academic staff and associate lecturers, 16 research assistants and 14 members of professional services staff. The School is home to around 80 PhD students, and approximately 1,000 undergraduates and 100 master level students.

The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is full time, permanent appointment with an expected start date of 1 September 2024 or as soon as possible after this date.
The starting salary for a Lecturer will be Grade 5, in the range of £49,785- £52,549 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
The starting salary for a Senior Lecturer will be Grade 7, in the range of £61,896- £69,114 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance.
A temporary market supplement of £5,000 per annum is attached to this post, which is a separate payment in addition to the normal salary. A review of market conditions will be carried out periodically to establish if the market supplement should continue.
