Project Engineer - Design - Warehouse Automation / Material Handling

Monday - Friday (Mainly office based with very little travel).
I am currently recruiting a Project Engineer with engineering projects experience to work on multiple projects, developing automation solutions for new and existing automated sites. You will take engineering ownership and be responsible for the design and development of various project solutions in collaboration with wider engineering teams.
You will be responsible for producing and reviewing various technical documentation including, but not limited to, layout, design calculations and progress reports.
You will be responsible for managing suppliers, preparing your solutions for rolling out across various projects and providing ongoing support to the design team to resolve any engineering issues as well as documenting feedback for future developments.
Duties:
1. Provide technical leadership for each project through all key stages including concept verification, layout and validation, design and procurement.
2. 2D Drawings.
3. Design work.
4. Layout design.
5. Manage multiple projects in parallel.
6. Create and supervise the creation of detailed engineering drawings.
7. Support Implementation with installation expertise, ensuring best practice is followed and understood and product engineering challenges are resolved.
8. Review, maintain and communicate related technical documentation.
9. Proactively support engineering supply chain with engineering detail, including acceptance testing and order specification.
10. Ensure product and process quality is maintained.
Experience:
1. At least 3-5 years’ experience with conveyor / MHE automation.
2. Project Engineering - demonstrable experience & success in delivering projects on time and within approved budgets with an automation, FMCG or manufacturing environment.
3. Working knowledge and experience with conveyors, ASRS systems, tote and pallet conveyors.
4. Experience in managing project budgets and applying the appropriate analysis tools in order to make decisions and manage variations from the specification, consult stakeholders as appropriate and gain resolution.
5. Excellent technical and practical competence relating to MHE automation and general engineering.
6. Experience of projects and products in manufacturing, automotive, airports, FMCG distribution or similar field.
7. Aptitude to debate details (both technical and commercial) with both internal and external parties.
8. IT literate, proficient with Microsoft Office/Project and comfortable using CAD packages.
9. Must have very good negotiation skills with the ability to listen, comprehend, consider and assimilate others points of view with their own beliefs and visions.
10. Experience in vendor selection and long-term engagement for the delivery of services and products.
11. Appreciation of applicable directives, codes standards etc (eg machinery directive).
12. Technical / Engineering qualification to degree level in a relevant field.
