Position Summary:
Deputize for the Certification Body Manager and assist with the supervision of the operations of the certification body in North America.
Responsibilities:
1. Deputize for the Certification Body Manager;
2. Supervise the operations of the Inspection Body and maintain the accreditations;
3. Ensure that TÜV SÜD Americas complies with all current accreditation and regulatory requirements. Maintain existing certification procedures;
4. Support the OSHA NRTL Program for both NAFTA and international labs;
5. Obtain new accreditations as needed to support business needs including preparing application packages for submission to OSHA and the SCC;
6. Administer related personnel authorizations;
7. Support accreditation body audits at TÜV SÜD locations worldwide;
8. Support internal quality functions as needed (e.g., internal audits);
9. Represent TÜV SÜD on committees and other forums;
10. Conduct training remotely and on-site;
11. Deputize for the CBW administrator (releasing certificates);
12. Both domestic and international travel will be required. Up to 30% travel. A valid driving license, passport, and ability to obtain a visa in other countries (e.g., China) is required.
Qualification
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience;
2. 10 years’ experience testing electrical products to UL and CSA standards;
3. 5 years’ experience working within a NRTL at the certification decision level;
Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
1. Expertise with the testing of electrical products to international standards;
2. Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories;
3. Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17065, Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes, and services;
4. Energy Efficiency certification programs (preferred);
5. Cybersecurity certification programs (preferred);
6. IECEE CB Scheme (preferred);
7. Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17020, General criteria for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection (preferred);
8. Internal Quality System Auditing (preferred);
9. Familiarity with the OSHA NRTL Electrical Safety Product Certification Program;
10. Familiarity with Electrical Safety Standards (e.g., UL 62368-1, AAMI 60601, etc.);
11. Familiarity with the operations of a Product Certification Body;
12. Excellent written and oral communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills;
13. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
