The Role
Erskine Stewart’s Melville Schools are currently recruiting for a School Paramedic (Maternity Cover) to join the school nurses on the Ravelston site on a maternity cover basis from 5 May 2025-27 March 2026 (subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks). The role is part time, term time, working 20 hours per week. Remuneration will be on the ESMS Support Staff Salary Scale H (£15,722-£17,415 per annum).
The purpose of this role is to provide medical care and health support to pupils throughout the school day, ensuring their well-being and safety. Responsibilities include caring for unwell or injured children, administering medication, and maintaining confidential medical records in accordance with school policies and professional guidelines.
The successful candidate will have experience in managing injuries and caring for unwell patients. While nurse or paramedic registration is not required, these qualifications are welcomed. Strong communication, analytical, and organisational skills, combined with a positive, resilient personality, are key. A solid understanding of safeguarding, first aid, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, along with a genuine enthusiasm for working with children, are essential for this role.
ESMS is unable to sponsor the employment of international workers in this role. International applicants will therefore be unable to apply for and secure a Skilled Worker visa. The successful candidate will only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right work in the UK.
