Overview
Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial Legal, we are recruiting for a lawyer (9 month FTC) to join our small but busy in-house team here at Wincanton. The successful candidate will provide pragmatic, targeted advice and support on a range of legal issues across our diverse logistics business.
Location is flexible for this position. Remote working as standard, there will besome requirement for travel to Chippenham Head Office and Wincantonsites or customer premises for face-to-face meetings.
This role is for 4 days per week.
How will you contribute?
Drafting and maintaining legal precedents
Supporting and advising Procurement on their standard SOGAS agreements
Providing support on commercial contract issues across the business
Assisting with all legal and compliance matters in responses to tenders
Drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and agreements including:NDA/confidentiality agreements;
LOIs and outsourcing agreements;
Variation and novation agreements;
General logistics agreements; and
IT agreements (as customer and supplier)Identifying and mitigating legal risks whilst ensuring a pragmatic approach
Providing the business with ad hoc legal advice as and when needed
Keeping informed of regulatory and market developments that will impact the business
Reviewing and drafting policies and procedures
Experience in managing databases or internal registersWhat will you bring?
Qualified solicitor with 1+ PQE
Proficiency in working in a fast-paced and complex business environment
Ability to work alongside a small but busy team and prioritise work to ensure timescales are met
Commercially-focused and aware of the balance between business needs and risk
Well-developed communication skills with the ability to build relationships and influence individuals at all levels of the organisation
Clear, authoritative and professional communication skills
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Acute attention to detail
Approachable and responsive
Willing to take control and make considered decisions
Self-motivated and drives for continuous improvement
Strong sense of integrity and values required to maintain standards and legal adherence
Desirable: experience within an in-house legal position or via secondment
