Primary purpose and function of position:
Reporting to the First Line Manager in the Logistics Department, the role of an Engineering Operator Technician is a multi-skilled position. The main purpose of this position is to carry out planned and reactive maintenance in support of the Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS). The role is vital for the efficiency, quality, and cost of the plant. An Engineering Operator Technician will look to improve the reliability and safety of the plant and production processes from a mechanical and electrical perspective.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Tasks:
Working for the Logistics Department, you will work in a team consisting of multi-skilled engineers. You will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance support across ASRS.
Accountabilities:
Duties include:
* Mechanical and Electrical maintenance, including:
* Working in a safe manner following all company policies and procedures
* Undertake, drive and support maintenance and improvement activities
* Identify CI opportunities
* Developing SOPs and learning documents to share best practice across shifts with respect to maintenance and CIL
* Developing safety and maintenance procedures
* Liaise with suppliers of OEMs for the provision of spares/services
* Support the development and maintenance of a high-performance, flexible, and “can do” culture
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance
* Machinery fault diagnosis and repairs
* Use of Plant Optimisation tools to ensure sustainability of high departmental standards including 5S, Hygiene, and PDCA
* Record all maintenance activities within the maintenance management system (SAP)
* Maintenance prioritisation and planning
* Analyse machines to improve performance
* Identify critical spares for designated machines
* Refurbish spares as required
* Complete some work at heights, confined space & as a lone worker
* Project work
* Carrying out quality inspections on jobs
* Liaising & assisting client departments and customers
* Controlling maintenance tools, stores, and equipment
* Monitoring and controlling maintenance costs
* Ensure all safety systems are in working order
Key skills, knowledge and Competencies:
* Comply with health, safety, hygiene, and 5S standards policies and practices at all times
* Proactive & self-managed engineer who is professional and has a can-do attitude
* Good communication skills and take pride in the work they complete
* On occasions, you will be expected to work with external contractors
* Understanding of LEAN, Continuous Improvements, HACCP, Food Safety protocols
* Undertake activities to support VPO compliance and sustainability
* Positive “can do” attitude
* Committed to a high-performance and CI environment
* Support a “Learning Organisation” environment
* Analysis of numerical information and good IT literacy
* Ability to make decisions and challenge
* High levels of team working
* 5S and hygiene will be of utmost importance
* Strong organisation skills with a structured and systematic approach, adhering to deadlines, able to work on own initiative
Key Experience and Qualifications:
* Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3, HNC or equivalent mechanical/electrical qualification
* FLT license is desirable
* Previous experience in FMCG/Logistics Operations
* Proven fault finding and maintenance skills
* Good communication skills
* Experience in a multi-disciplined engineering function
* Excellent knowledge of manufacturing principles, tools, and techniques
* Good numeracy, literacy, and verbal communication skills
