Senior Civil Engineer
Location: Cardiff
My client is an award-winning, employee-owned Design Consultancy with offices across the UK. The business has grown from strength to strength over the last 60 years, and due to another increase in workload, an opportunity has arisen in their busy Cardiff office for a Principal or Senior Civil Engineer to join their team. They are well known locally for working on iconic projects in a variety of sectors such as data centres, conservation and heritage sites, education and healthcare schemes, housing regeneration, and luxury developments.
They are engaged in stimulating and demanding projects, such as the new DfE offsite framework, the adoption of MMC, and meeting the NHS zero building standard. They are looking for someone with project delivery experience who is able to work somewhat independently while the team grows. They would also consider applicants who have experience managing people and projects and can help them become a more established team quickly so they can take on more work. The role will involve project delivery while we continue to grow their team. This is a great opportunity to be a key part of building something that is destined for success.
The role will involve independently leading on the delivery of a wide variety of project types, including client liaison, financial management, and quality management. You will also be supporting and mentoring other Engineers and Technicians in the development of their design and project information.
You will have extensive experience designing SuDS and dealing with SAB Authorities as well as experience of leading and managing civil design projects. In particular, developing delivery programmes, ensuring the project team are coordinated and schedules & resources are planned appropriately.
You will have experience in the engineering design of both the public realm and new development infrastructure and will have technical design excellence and detailed understanding of relevant approvals processes for highways, earthworks, and drainage design/adoption, including SuDS. As well as this, you need to be experienced with roads and drainage design, working in accordance with section 38s, 104s & 278s, within development-led projects. You will be required to take a leading role on projects, which will incorporate client liaison, developing new & existing business relationships, and mentoring of more junior / less skilled staff. It is preferable for the majority of your experience to have been gained using Civils3D, MicroDrainage, and PDS software.
