Job overview
We are looking for a motivated Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist to join our small team. The successful candidate will be interested in providing excellent patient care in the community setting while helping develop our service further.
The post is advertised at band 5, subject to successful completion of objectives and probation period over 12 months, with an increase to band 6. Applications are also welcome from experienced band 5 therapists ready for the next step to band 6 with the appropriate skills and experience. Experienced band 6s are also welcome to apply.
Our service provides care for patients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders. We offer appointments by home visit, outpatient clinic, telephone, and video. Our caseload includes neurological degenerative conditions, care homes, two community hospitals, voice, and stroke.
We cover the geographical areas of Scarborough, Filey, Ryedale, Pocklington, and Whitby. We work alongside community therapy and nursing services. The work base location and split of geographical caseload will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
* To deliver high-level, quality care and evidence-based interventions in line with local and national guidance within adult acquired community caseload.
* To deliver SLT intervention in both autonomous and multidisciplinary working.
* To plan, provide, and evaluate interventions within an identified clinical area.
* To participate in the delivery of service-specific training as required.
* To support identified assistants.
* To undertake administrative duties as required.
* To manage a caseload, including self-directed planning and time management within the identified clinical area.

Minimum Requirements
* Degree or Diploma plus relevant skills, knowledge, training, and experience.
* Current professional registration.
* An understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within the identified clinical area.
* Full understanding of relevant policy, drivers, and their application to clinical and service area.
Experience
* Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) e.g. developing specialist interests.
* Evidence of post-registration professional practice.
* Evidence of promoting/supporting active user/carer involvement/participation.
Skills and Competence
* Effective inter-personal skills and experience in supervising and mentoring.
* Ability to effectively commute between the organisation's various sites.
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
