Total Recycling Services Ltd.
As part of the continued expansion of our total waste management services, we are seeking an HNC qualified (minimum) chemist to join our team, working at our Darlington/Hartlepool depots.
This role would suit someone with hazardous waste experience.
As part of the hazardous waste team, you will play a central role in the safe supervision of incoming and outgoing waste and provide technical support to the rest of the business.
All of our team at Total adopt a flexible attitude to work to accomplish company and customer requirements and goals. In that respect, you will need to be willing to contribute wherever required, including site visits, customer meetings, supporting our Industrial Service and Transport teams with advice, and carrying out chem-pack and listing work whenever required.
Your day-to-day base will be our Darlington HQ and Hartlepool treatment plant.
Our Darlington transfer station offers year-round indoor working conditions, where you will be:
1. Advising the technical assessment and sales team where required
2. Overseeing the receipt and dispatch of wastes and ensuring the high standards of our duty of care regime are maintained
3. Sampling and assessing all wastes as required by our permit and associated guidance
4. Supervising staff and advising on all aspects of operation in the transfer station
5. Managing and undertaking the processing of lab smalls and difficult wastes
6. Working with the SHE Manager and Operations Director to ensure all operations are carried out with the highest regard to health, safety, and environment.
You must have an HNC (or equivalent) for this role.
Continued support and ongoing training is part of working at our company.
WAMITAB would be beneficial; however, it is not an immediate requirement. If you have an HNC and an interest in pursuing this qualification, we can discuss support for this.
The facility operates on an early/late shift rota, alternating weekly or by agreement with colleagues. Any applicant will be expected to operate under this scheme (06:00 - 14:30 and 09:30 - 18:00) in due course.
