Role Overview: As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting SEND pupils within a mainstream school environment. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting and leading sessions both inside and outside the classroom, tailored to the needs of students with autism, delayed speech, ADHD, and Down syndrome.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support and assistance to SEND pupils during class activities.
* Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes learning and development.
* Lead small group sessions designed to enhance social skills, communication, and academic progress.
* Collaborate with teachers and parents to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) effectively.
* Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with SEND pupils, particularly those with autism, delayed speech, ADHD, and Down syndrome.
* Confidence and capability in leading sessions both within classrooms and in specialized environments.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
* Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
* Relevant qualifications or training in SEN education or related fields would be advantageous.
