Job Title: DevOps Engineer Location: Corsham (3 days per week) with travel to Abbeywood Contract Length: 3 months (likely to extend) Clearance Required to start: Minimum SC, ideally DV Sector: Defence / UK MOD Overview: We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-security programme within the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a dynamic and challenging environment, supporting critical national infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience working in Defence and Government settings, with expertise in VMware virtualised environments and dual Windows/Linux operating systems. Strong troubleshooting skills are essential, and experience with Citrix would be highly advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and maintain DevOps pipelines to support secure MOD environments. Manage and optimise virtualised infrastructure within VMware. Support Windows and Linux-based environments, ensuring system stability and performance. Troubleshoot complex system and network issues, providing rapid resolution. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement automation and infrastructure as code (IaC). Ensure compliance with security policies and MOD regulations. Provide support for system upgrades, patching, and configuration management. Document processes and maintain system architecture diagrams.Essential Skills & Experience: Security Clearance: Minimum SC clearance required; DV clearance highly desirable. Defence & Government Experience: Proven background working in secure environments. Virtualisation: Strong experience with VMware technologies. Windows & Linux: Ability to support, troubleshoot, and optimise dual-OS environments. Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Familiarity with tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet. Scripting & Automation: Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or Bash. CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps. Networking Knowledge: Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, and firewalls. Security & Compliance: Awareness of UK Government security principles and cyber best practices.Desirable Skills: Citrix Experience: Deployment and support of Citrix environments. Cloud Exposure: Understanding of AWS, Azure, or MODCloud. Containerisation: Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes. Monitoring & Logging: Experience with tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack, or Prometheus. Location: Corsham (3 days per week) with occasional travel to Abbeywood. Contract Length: 3 months (initial), with strong potential for extension. Clearance Requirement: SC clearance required, DV clearance preferred. Day Rate: £750pd (Inside IR35) Please note, due to the nature of this role Security Clearance is required from Day 1.
