Personal Assistant for Young Person - 12 hours/week at £12.10/hour - Bedale - DL8
Job Reference: CRS-H, P413734
We are looking to employ a Personal Assistant for our 11-year-old son, who lives in Bedale.
You will need to have experience with children with autism, especially PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and OCD. You will help our son manage social interactions with peers and ensure a sense of personal safety around other children.
You must be energetic, have good communication skills, a sense of humour, and patience. A driving licence would be preferable as taking him on days out will also be required.
Examples of Activities:
1. Escort our son to various parks within walking distance. He may take a bike or scooter. Play games and use the park facilities.
2. Escort him on bus rides into Northallerton or other agreed destinations.
3. Escort him to places of interest and eat out if possible.
4. Take him swimming.
5. During bad weather, participate in gaming within our home. Gaming knowledge, especially Fortnite, Minecraft, and Teardown, would be beneficial.
6. Help our son take our dogs for walks, allowing him to bond more positively with them.
The hourly rate will be £12.10 per hour. There will be no expectations for any personal care for him.
Hours will be 12 hours per week during term time and 14 hours a week during school holidays. We are looking for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3 pm to 7 pm, collecting him from his school in Bedale. During school holidays, the days will be the same but earlier in the day (i.e., 12 pm to 5 pm for 2 days and then 12 pm to 4 pm for the third). There will be some flexibility regarding days, but Tuesdays during term time will definitely be essential. There may also be some weekend work accompanying the family on days out.
All expenses will be reimbursed where necessary (i.e., entry for swimming, food, and drink for our son).
You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year (pro rata), but you will be required to take 2 weeks to coincide with our holiday periods (usually the last two weeks of August).
