Climate change is driving the biggest and fastest global industrial transformation in a generation - a change that will impact the business environment and international trade for decades. We need to help ensure UK businesses are well-placed to take advantage of the commercial opportunities from the global green transition and that DBT�s wider work is aligned with the Government�s climate and environment policy ambitions.�
At the centre of the department sits the Global Futures Directorate � an internal strategy team and thinktank focused on driving positive change on long-term issues affecting the UK and global economy. We are recruiting a Green Strategy Advisor to join the Green Strategy Team, to support our work aligning the Department�s business and trade policy with the Government�s climate and environment goals.�
Job description
You will play a multi-functional role in the Green Strategy Team, including:�
1. Horizon scanning and strategy development � You will have a keen interest in climate and economic policy and pro-actively track the frontiers of thinking to help spot opportunities and risks to the UK, applying that to your work.��
2. Collaborating and influencing with internal and external stakeholders � You will help develop and maintain the team�s network of contacts across the department, Whitehall and with experts outside government to shape the department�s thinking and identify issues and opportunities to deliver our objectives.�
3. Supporting the delivery of DBT�s green objectives - day to day work with policy teams to monitor and report delivery against the Department�s objectives, identifying opportunities and risks for discussion at key governance Boards.�
4. Developing strategic communication on climate issues across Whitehall and externally - drafting and advising on briefings for Ministers and senior officials, preparing, checking and advising on correspondence, PQs, Freedom of Information requests, and responses to other ad-hoc requests to help deliver Ministerial communicationsand ensure DBT has a strong external narrative.�

5. Interest in climate and economic policy making.�
6. Stakeholder engagement � ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of different stakeholders.�
7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.�
8. Flexibility and the ability to deliver at pace in a fast-moving environment.�
9. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams.�
Desirable Criteria�
10. Experience in climate policy.�
11. Experience in trade policy, business policy or international macroeconomic policy.�
12. Experience in supporting or conducting research projects.�
