We are looking for a committed, proactive hands-on Assistant Manager who would enjoy working in an exciting, fast-paced, customer focused environment at The Cotton Mill Micro pub. Help to deliver a community focused, warm and friendly space for people to enjoy good drinks and good conversation. This role is really important for the continued success of this multi-award winning small business with a big heart. You will be working alongside the owners delivering the same passion and care for human connection and joyous moments. Day to day in The Cotton Mill you are expected to independently cover all areas of operational activity and pub management. You are required to maintain an excellent level of house-keeping and service. Providing a clean and organised micro-pub and cellar environment. You will manage the cellar and beer rotation to a high standard and also be comfortable in running and hosting events which are held all throughout the summer season. This will be a very busy year at The Cotton Mill where we are always improving, expanding and reinvesting in our eclectic community hub. We host live music all summer, beer festivals, darts leagues, cribbage leagues, community events, quizzes and even our very own Cotton Mill Food truck. We will require relevant management experience, food and beverage experience and a bucket load of enthusiasm. Ideally the candidate will possess a personal licence. Duties: Make patrons feel welcome and at home whether they are long standing regulars or completely new to The Cotton Mill Micropub. You must love chatting to people and be a great listener Taking beverage orders from customers and serving drinks as requested, paying extreme attention to detail. Satisfying patron requests in a timely manner. Such is the nature of hospitality in the current climate, sometimes the pub floor is incredibly fast-paced and sometimes it’s very mellow. You must be confident in adapting to both. Assessing customer preferences and making drink recommendations. You will naturally get to know our regular faces and develop a knack for automatically knowing what they’d like Providing a positive and friendly guest experience by interacting with patrons in a warm manner. Providing a relaxed drinking and conversing atmosphere for patrons by pro-actively offering table service. Being vigilant with when a patron may require another drink. Collecting payments for drinks served. Your attention to detail will be required here to effectively manage any tabs and payments. You are required to maintain high company standards of housekeeping / service and ensure compliance with licensing laws. Accepting and checking deliveries if required. Creating, coordinating and hosting regular events. You are expected to manage the cellar and beer rotation to a high standard. Handle and maintain quality cask ale and keg beer ensuring immaculate, fresh serving and minimal wastage. Changing beer and immaculately cleaning pouring equipment as required for excellent cellar management techniques. Efficiently following opening & close down procedures including cashing up, EPOS reporting for end of day / opening, cleaning down & closing premises in the correct and secure manner. Keeping a well-stocked bar and fridge with an adequate supply of beer, wine, soft drinks, glassware, snacks and other accessories. Organising the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory. Preparing and serving snacks, or other food items for customers. Complying with all food and beverage regulations. Managing and working alongside other team members as required. Limiting customer problems by restricting alcohol intake and attempting to curtail inappropriate behaviour if required. This really is rarely required but is part of the job ensuring a safe space for all of our patrons. Requirements: - At least 1 years management experience. - Available to work evenings and weekends. - Manual lifting is involved. - Lone working is involved. - Display the ability to manage a team. - Be crazy about beer, people, service and all things crafty
