Job Description
Working within the Transport Department the main purpose of the role is to ensure a smooth transition when loading, unloading trailers, and ensuring maintenance and safety at all times.
1. Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times
2. Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
3. Liaising with colleagues and ensuring completion of shift report
4. Conducting daily checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage and completing associated documentation
5. Carrying out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff
6. Completing trailer checklist and reporting to operations desk
7. Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks
8. Liaising with the warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading / unloading of trailers
9. Completing vehicles downloads as per the company policy
10. Monitoring services / MOTs – liaising with Transport Office and with service vendor
11. Assisting with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel
12. Keeping yard in clean / tidy condition
13. Liaising with Transport Office as and when required i.e. special promotions and / or livery schedules
14. Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard
15. An internal facing job role liaising with transport, warehouse control and goods-in colleagues, as well as external service vendor, as required.
