Position: Welder Fabricator

Summary:
A Welder Fabricator is responsible for welding, fabricating, and assembling metal components to create structures, machinery, and equipment. This role involves interpreting blueprints, using various welding techniques, and ensuring high-quality workmanship in accordance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Welding and Fabrication:
o Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
o Performing welding operations using methods such as MIG (Essential), TIG, Stick, and Arc welding (desirable).
o Cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to precise dimensions.
2. Inspection and Quality Control:
o Inspecting welded joints and structures for quality and adherence to specifications.
o Identifying and repairing any defects or inconsistencies in welds.
o Conducting tests to ensure the strength and integrity of finished products.
3. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
o Operating welding machines, grinders, cutters, and other fabrication tools.
o Performing routine maintenance on welding equipment to ensure optimal performance.
o Keeping tools and work area clean and organized.
4. Safety and Compliance:
o Adhering to industry standards, company procedures, and safety regulations during all testing processes.
o Ensuring proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
o Following all safety procedures and guidelines to protect oneself and others from hazardous materials.
o Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and coveralls.
o Adhering to environmental regulations and proper disposal methods for paint and solvents.
o Taking reasonable care of oneself and others affected by work activities.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
o Working closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to complete projects.
o Communicating any issues or delays to Team Leaders promptly.
o Participating in team meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
* Certification in welding or a related field is preferred; minimum NVQ level 2 required.
* Relevant experience in welding and metal fabrication.
Skills and Competencies:
* Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG essential).
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
* Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
* Knowledge of safety protocols and handling of hazardous materials.
Physical Requirements:
* Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in various environmental conditions.
* Good vision and manual dexterity.
* Ability to work alternating shifts – Earlies, Lates, Nights.
* Must be able to pass a medical.
