We have a new opportunity to be part of our Wind Tunnel Operations team in the role of Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer.
As a Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer, you will work as part of the Wind Tunnel Operations group to provide technical and operational support to our brand-new, state-of-the-art wind tunnel. This is a rare and exciting opportunity in Formula One, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of our aerodynamic development. You’ll be joining the team at a pivotal moment as we begin operating the newest wind tunnel in F1—offering you the chance to make a lasting impact in an environment that is both technically challenging and rewarding.
You will be responsible for:
* Providing first-line technical support for the operation and maintenance of the wind tunnel and its associated systems.
* Conducting routine checks and calibration of model instrumentation before, during, and after wind tunnel sessions and model builds.
* Assembling, operating, and maintaining bench test rigs and R&D test and calibration rigs both on and off model.
* Diagnosing and repairing electrical and electronic systems within the wind tunnel environment, including model and R&D equipment.
* Recording data, documenting experimental methods, configurations, and procedures.
* Collating tunnel performance metrics and reporting on facility health and operational efficiency.
* Supporting stock control and managing spares inventory.
* Assisting PIV engineers to ensure the smooth running of the PIV system.
* Working with systems and data engineers to support analysis and accurate data recording.
What you will need to be successful in this role:
* Previous experience in wind tunnel systems, aerodynamic testing, or related motorsport/automotive R&D environments.
* Strong engineering foundation in one or more of the following: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering.
* Experience in fitting, maintenance, or calibration of test and measurement equipment.
* Practical knowledge of wiring harnesses, electronic components, and data acquisition software is highly desirable.
* Exceptional hands-on technical and troubleshooting skills across a range of equipment, from heavy plant to sensitive instrumentation.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to operate under pressure.
* Ability to follow detailed instructions and work methodically with high attention to detail.
* Competence in record-keeping and the use of IT systems.
This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.
