Based within our region covering the South East (Thames, West London and Hemel Hempstead) the Transport Manager South East role will provide leadership, management and development to a multi-site depot operation, delivering KPIs, operations plan and optimising financial performance, capability, and standards. In line with O-licence expectations and to ensure visible management in operating locations, the role will require travel to all depot locations within your region. The role will have a strong focus on managing and developing a team of drivers across the depots to deliver excellent and safe service to our clients and supporting a positive employee culture aligned to Greenergys values or Respect, Ownership, Care and Integrity. Key Responsibilities Lead with a can do attitude to drive consistency and continuous improvement, whilst motivating direct reports to ensure they are championing a positive/ coherent team culture across the entire region. Effectively manage Transport operations throughout the region supported by the central functions of Scheduling, Fleet, HR, IT and Resource. Resource planning to ensure needs of the business are met. The management of driver numbers on any day or night, to ensure that operations can be delivered efficiently and within contractual/customer requirements. Ensuring there is appropriate forward planning so that this is achieved, and any risks of future gaps are identified early and addressed. The management of any driver attendance or performance issues within company guidelines and procedures to ensure that there is good utilisation of resource levels and availability, leading to good cost control of overtime and agency usage. Recruitment of drivers ensuring that all aspects of the selection process has been correctly completed and assessed before deciding to employ. Ensuring that all drivers receive the company induction when they join the business including health and safety requirements, company processes and procedures and any other training they require, including ensuring required information and certificates are checked prior to offer of employment. Ensuring that all new drivers have the required PPE and uniform prior to the start of their first shift. Engaging the services of accredited driver agencies, when the need arises, ensuring that these drivers maintain the Greenergy Flexigrid standard, to ensure there is a good local pool of trained drivers that can be used within the region to support the delivery of operations. Regular reviews of the usage of agency drivers and determine whether resource levels need to be increased or decreased to give efficient cost management. Monitoring and responding to all tachograph infringements in line with company procedures. Monitoring and improvement where possible, in relation to MPG per vehicle ensuring they are within agreed levels. Order and monitor PPE and uniform requirements/usage within acceptable levels and costs. Active management of driver hours and the utilisation of hours with the agreed reference period and in line with WTD, and RTD. To ensure the best use of resources vs time and cost. Investigating and reporting of every incident promptly and produce detailed reports in line with company procedures and recommended follow-up action to prevent recurrence. Effective communication to the drivers of information through Toolbox Talks including such areas as health and safety, future events and issues etc, ensuring 90% attendance of drivers. Development of both effective internal and external relationships to ensure that there is consistency of approach across regions and support to other functions is shared/given through such methods as managers conference calls, daily contact with schedulers, and terminal health and safety issues are understood and dealt with. Review and sign off all driver timesheets to ensure that payroll information is correct, dealing with and resolving queries prior to sign off. Review and deal with queries on the P&L as appropriate. Preparation of monthly reporting figures on driver performance. Monitoring, investigating and reporting on all dropped loads and propose appropriate changes where required to eliminate future occurrences. Complete disciplinary, grievance, and sickness absence review meetings as appropriate to ensure the effective management of drivers. Providing cover for General Manager (South) and other Transport Managers during their absence. Attending Local Joint Committee (LJC) & National Negotiation Committee (NNC) Union meetings as requested and to actively participate in the maintenance of industrial relations. Identify and develop talented employees across the region to meet the companys commitment to succession planning and management development. Competent in leading Company projects. General administration duties as required. Other duties as reasonably required or as identified to support the developing Strategy of the business.
