Questech are recruiting on behalf of our client in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer.

The Role:
1. Ensure the overall design “basis of safety” is inherent in the mechanical engineering design.
2. Ensure mechanical design meets essential company and statutory design standards.
3. Coordinate the development and delivery of the mechanical engineering design and documentation to meet the agreed project programme.
4. Ensure all engineering risks are shared with and understood by the Project Manager.
5. Provide appropriate mechanical engineering support for fabrication, technical assembly, installation, and commissioning.
6. Design equipment in the most cost-effective way while still maintaining quality.
7. Ensure all GA and fabrication drawings are checked prior to issue.
8. Produce the mechanical GA drawings and detailed drawings to facilitate fabrication and technical assembly, together with other key mechanical documentation such as parts lists and flat pack details.
9. Liaise with Project Manager, Controls Engineer, Fabrication Engineer, and Assembly Engineers to ensure their input and support achieves a robust design.
10. Provide mechanical design engineering input to the various project and design review meetings such as DQ's and fabrication hand-overs.
11. Ensure mechanical design costs achieve or better their gross profit budgets.
12. Promote standardization philosophy within designs, maximizing efficiency, and minimizing potential risks.
13. Share expertise and keep up to date with developments & innovations.
14. Maintain an effective working relationship with all teams within the business.
15. Contribute to the ongoing development of the business, its people, and processes.
16. Participate in other duties as and when required.
17. Comply with all policies and procedures within the company.
18. Carry out all duties with regard to and ensuring equal opportunity.
19. Work with all employees within the company in the fulfilment of our aims.
20. Ensure that you remain compliant with health and safety regulations and accepted safe practice at all times.
21. Report any health and safety issues or contraventions witnessed anywhere within the business to your manager.
This role is working a Monday to Friday days pattern.
The salary is £30,000pa - £40,000pa dependent on skills and experience. Excellent benefits package included.
