About the team
You'll be joining a high performing team which manages the financial reporting, controls and strategy for Praetura Lending. The team works closely with our technical team, as well as leaders and stakeholders across our five Praetura lending businesses, to support and provide information for commercial insights.
It’s an exciting time for Praetura Lending as we are going through a period of huge growth. Reporting to our Head of Financial Reporting, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the group’s financial reporting, systems, processes, and procedures are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth of the group.
Being a deadline driven role, the work is fast paced, varied, and challenging, providing plenty of opportunity to develop knowledge and skills, creatively solve problems and support the business in achieving its goals.

This is a hybrid role, based in the office a minimum of 3 days per week (Blackburn office).
Main duties include, but are not limited to:
Management
* Responsibility and review of monthly group management accounts, inclusive of divisions, group and consolidated accounts across a complex group structure
* Review of balance sheet reconciliations
* Manage ongoing financial MI requirements to create appropriate reporting for directors and staff
* Assist with preparation and implementation of group tax strategy
* Oversight of corporation tax returns to HMRC
* Review and submission of VAT returns for group and divisions
* Ensure compliance and group alignment of UK accounting standards and tax regulations
* Lead the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors
* Covenant compliance and reporting
* Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data across all systems
* Effective management of other finance staff, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
* Continuous development of the finance function, systems, processes and team
Transactions
* Ensure that daily and periodic bank reconciliations are completed within agreed SLA’s
* Implement and maintain a system of robust controls and processes over accounting transactions across multiple systems
* Maintain the chart of accounts for all systems within the group
* Have a sound working knowledge of financial transactions across all divisions
* Provide guidance and support on financial aspects of transaction reporting for all divisions
Reporting
* Partner with Head of Reporting, Group FD and CFO to provide strategic financial reporting to the board and senior management
* Assist in preparation of board packs, investor updates and external reporting to key stakeholders
* Conduct financial analysis to support key business decisions, including potential investments and acquisitions
* Coordinate the preparation of the statutory annual accounts across over 25 group entities and full consolidation
* Issue timely and complete monthly accounts
* Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of group
* Company secretarial duties
* Ensure accurate and timely regulatory reporting
Required skills and experience
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification)
* Strong technical knowledge of FRS102 and tax regulations
* Proven experience as Financial Controller or senior finance role (ideally financial services, but not essential)
* Hands-on experience in financial reporting, audits, and tax compliance
* Demonstrable leadership experience and ability to manage finance teams
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
* Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems, including Excel and accounting packages (ideally Oracle Netsuite, but not essential)
* High level of attention to detail and practical problem-solving competence
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
