Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Manager - The Role:
The purpose of the role is to support the Head of Projects in managing the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) so that programmes and projects are set up, tracked and managed in a way which gives confidence to our CEO and Board and supports successful delivery of benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Head of Projects in defining and constructing the Commission's new portfolio in line with the new Government and Corporate Plan.
2. Ensure appropriate scrutiny for all projects in the Commission's project pipeline.
3. Maintain and update the portfolio progress tracker, monitoring delivery monthly and quarterly, and report to ET, highlighting emerging issues for resolution.
4. Provide secretariat support to the Project Assurance Board (PAB) and ARAC for regular portfolio updates.
5. Offer support and constructive feedback to projects and programs, attending boards as needed to promote successful delivery.
6. Assist with review work and maintain a list of review-skilled individuals; help recruit review team members when necessary.
7. Lead project management training, collaborating with L&D to assess needs, deliver training, and identify suitable resources.
Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Manager - You:
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
1. Track record of delivering projects and/or programmes, preferably in the public sector.
2. Strong understanding of project management methodologies with proven ability to effectively implement them in practice.
3. Experience of working in a PMO, supporting and tracking projects and programmes.
4. Experience of reviewing projects and programmes, making recommendations for improvement.
5. Experience designing and delivering project management training.
6. PRINCE 2 methodology and documentation.
7. Sound knowledge of Excel and MS Project or similar.
8. Working knowledge of procurement and contract management.
