Job overview
The Specialty Medicine Directorate is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and suitably experienced part-time Support Medical Secretary to support the Chest Pain Service. The successful candidate will be required to work on their own initiative and demonstrate excellent audio typing skills, communication, and organisational skills. Working days to be decided at interview.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role will be to provide secretarial support and administration duties such as audio typing, mail and filing, tracking patient records, managing patient pathways by following RTT guidelines, as well as liaising with patients, relatives/carers and external partners on a daily basis. A good understanding of the principles of Referral to Treatment Time is required and an empathetic approach to customer care, therefore an excellent telephone manner will need to be demonstrated. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications
* RSA/OCR Stage III or equivalent in word processing.
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, to include Word, PowerPoint and Excel packages.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
* Experience of working in an office environment; Experience of working as part of a team.
* Previous NHS experience; Previous Medical Secretary experience.
Abilities
* Ability to communicate with staff at all levels; Excellent organisational skills; Excellent telephone manner.
* Communicate in Welsh.
