Drug and Alcohol Team Social Worker
Caerphilly
up to £35 per hour payrolled via Umbrella company (PAYE option available)
A Qualified Social Worker is required to join Caerphilly's Drug and Alcohol team on an initial month-to-month basis to cover sickness in the team. A full-time worker is required. This is a lucrative opportunity as roles within substance misuse teams on a locum basis are few and far between. On-site working is required for this role, along with visits to clients.
The team is made up of:
* a Team manager
* x2 senior practitioner social workers
* x3 social workers
* x2 support workers
In this role, you will be required to assess individuals who have issues related to drugs or alcohol. Adopting a harm reduction philosophy, you will work with individuals to assist them in achieving their outcomes. You will collaborate with health colleagues, GSSMS, and the voluntary sector, GDAS. The individuals you will be working with often have additional needs, which can complicate their situations. These additional needs may include mental illness, physical disability, pregnancy, or involvement with Children's Social Services.
The team works closely with Children's Services and undertakes work with parents who use substances, where this has impacted their parenting. This work is called Hidden Harm intervention. Following the completion of this intervention, we then report back to Children's Services. When working with parents, we are required to attend Child Protection Case Conferences and Core Groups. The team also serves as assessors and financial gatekeepers for residential rehabilitation.
To apply for this role, you will need to hold -
* A relevant Social Work Qualification
* Registration with Social Care Wales
* Enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a DBS
* 3 Years of referencing
* Driving license with access to a car
