Role
As Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will be expected to effectively and efficiently assist with the below tasks. The main purpose of this role is to work alongside our Commercial Projects team in conjunction with the on-site staff to improved efficiencies, identify cost risk / opportunity and ultimately provide better cost control.
Good communication with the IME teams, client teams, design teams and complete supply chain is essential. We would also encourage further education and training through relevant courses and seminars that would benefit the job role.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As Graduate Quantity Surveyor within the Projects Division, you will be expected to initially assist and ultimately undertake the follow tasks:
* Monthly Valuations
o Maintaining Valuation Spreadsheet
o Liaison with Managers
o Issuing Valuations
o Saving down assessment / payment notices.
* Variations
o Set-up and maintain a variation register for each project
o Assist with preparation of variations
o Manage change control with wider team
o Assist with responses to queries from Client / Main Contractor
* Contract Notifications (JCT / NEC)
o Notifications Registers up to date
o Issuing Notifications
o An internal overview will be provided with the potential for further training
* Preparation of sub-contractor orders
o Assist with preparation of Sub-Contractor order to IME supply chain
o Engage with supply chain to ensure required information is received to issue orders
* Site Visits
o Visit sites in conjunction with Contract Managers to review variations/valuations.
* Contract Report & Forecasting
o Assist Contract Managers with preparation of monthly Reports
o Collate monthly sales and cost reports for division
Criteria
* Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to work to a plan to avoid disappointments
* Good interpersonal skills to create meaningful reciprocal relationships with both colleagues and clients
* Excellent communication, leadership, motivational and people skills
* Computer literate with competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
* Qualification in Quantity Surveyor or Equivalent
* Enthusiasm to learn
* Positive in all dealings with the directors, management team and staff
* Demonstrate sound technical awareness
* Courtesy and respect for each team member
* Good personal organisation, honesty, communication, ownership, reliability and dependability
* Praise and recognition of individuals and the team for a job well done
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
