We’re looking for an Accountant to join us at INSHUR on a 6-month fixed term contract, this could extend to a longer term role! We’re based in sunny Brighton ️ (sea, chips, and seagulls ️ included), and our company embraces a hybrid working model, allowing you to thrive in both collaborative office settings and the comfort of your own home. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while also connecting with your colleagues at our Brighton office at least 2 days a week, fostering a dynamic and supportive environment.
You’ll be working on re-inventing insurance in exciting markets across multiple territories including the UK, US, and the Netherlands, with plans to expand into new European countries.
Supported by (and reporting to) the Financial Controller, you'll be joining a friendly team of 12 who believe in creating a supportive culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

What you'll do
As an Accountant at INSHUR, you'll play a key role in supporting the financial operations of our European entities. You’ll be hands-on across core accounting processes and collaborate with teams across the business to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
You’ll be working on:
* Month-end revenue reconciliation and recognition to ensure accuracy and completeness
* Reconciling broker statements and supporting monthly P&L and balance sheet reviews
* Ensuring timely and accurate payroll posting
* Assisting with tax preparation and filings, including UK VAT returns and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT)
* Supporting both month-end and year-end closing processes
* Assisting with audits across UK and European entities
* Providing day-to-day support to Finance Assistants
* Working on ad hoc finance projects that drive process improvement and efficiency
* Supporting the migration of our Netherlands business to a new underwriting system for improved financial reporting

* ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW part or fully qualified: A strong foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Month-end experience with a UK insurer, including IPT: Brings specialist knowledge of insurance finance and tax.
* Proficient in Excel (Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.): Confident handling complex data and building insightful reports.
* Works well autonomously: Comfortable taking ownership and delivering independently.
* Familiar with intercompany adjustments and multi-currency environments: Supports global financial accuracy and reconciliation.
* Knowledge of UK VAT: Ensures compliance and accuracy in financial processes.

First Interview: 60-minute video call with the UK Financial Controller and People Partner to delve into the role, including technical and team fit questions.

Our budget for this role is £35,000 - 50,000pa (pro rata’d) and we will take into account any previous experience and location of work when agreeing on the final offer.
