To work as part of The Magnolia Unit multidisciplinary team and deliver a high standard of physiotherapy intervention to patients with Multipathology undergoing a period of inpatient rehabilitation. The candidate will need to assist in the timely and safe discharge of patients and make appropriate onward referrals to support their ongoing needs in the community.
Perform comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualized treatment programme.
The candidate will need to support their Team Lead (Band 7 Physio) in managing the Physiotherapy caseload and junior staff with appraising and supervising duties. They will also need to deputise in their absence and be representative of the Physiotherapy Team whilst amongst the wider MDT.
Candidates may be asked to work flexibly and be part of the weekend therapy service provision where possible.
Candidates may also be asked to work flexibly amongst both Multipathology Therapy Team and Neuro/Stroke Therapy Team should staffing levels require them to.
Main duties of the job

Hold responsibility for your own caseload, working without direct supervision and to supervise the work of junior and assistant staff. Access to advice and support from a more senior physiotherapist is available when required clinical work is not routinely evaluated.
Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
Undertake evidence-based audit and or research projects to further own and team's clinical practice. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager of service for changes to practice by the team. May contribute to the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
Be aware of and to highlight to your line manager any clinical governance issues pertaining to your role and practice.
Contribute to the delivery of health promotion activities within the service and wider Trust initiatives.
Be part of a seven-day physiotherapy service to meet the service objectives as set out by the service lead.

Clinical duties
* To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work and the work delegated to support staff.
* To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies: using a high level of clinical reasoning and assessment techniques to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.
* To utilize an extensive knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options to select and deliver a specialized physiotherapy programme to individual patients and plan their successful discharge.

* To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities and maintain a portfolio which reflects personal development.

* Where appropriate to be responsible for supervising student physiotherapists to graduate level on physiotherapeutic skills and knowledge within core clinical areas with the supervision and direction of more senior staff.
* To assist in the teaching and contribute to the performance assessment and appraisal of newly qualified Physiotherapists and Therapy support workers.
