Our Medicine Division delivers Emergency Department (A&E) services at East Surrey Hospital and a wide range of medical specialties including care of the elderly, acute and general medicine, dermatology, rheumatology, diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory medicine, stroke services, cardiology and neurology at East Surrey, Crawley and Horsham Hospitals and the Earlswood Centre.
Given the scale and complexity of the Division, we have two Divisional Directors of Operations and a Divisional Chief Nurse, all reporting to the Chief of Medicine.
As DDO you will combine your broad operational knowledge with strategic planning, working, and empowering your teams, stakeholders, and communities to help establish and embed our vision, our values, and our culture in an inclusive environment that promotes innovation and a continued focus on excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job
To support the Divisional Chief of Service in ensuring that the Division provides high quality patient services that are clinically sound, delivered cost effectively and which meet the Trust's priorities and performance standards.
Working collaboratively with the Divisional Director of Operations Urgent and Emergency care you will provide strong local leadership to the Division and balance strategic plans with operational needs and robust delivery, thus providing cross divisional business acumen.

* Educated to a master's degree, equivalent post-graduate qualification or equivalent professional experience
* Extensive experience at a senior level in a complex environment.
* Extensive operational experience in an acute environment.
* Experience of instigating and leading complex change to achieve continuous improvement.
