Manufacturing Engineer Job Type: Full-time Location: Plymouth Salary: DOE My client in Plymouth is seeking a dedicated Manufacturing Engineer to oversee and enhance manufacturing processes within designated areas. This role is crucial for ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency in day-to-day production, contributing significantly to the successful implementation of new products and processes. As a key member of a dynamic, multifunctional team, you will support my clients business goals and drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Optimise existing production processes focusing on safety, cost, quality, and delivery. Create and manage Labour Bill of Materials and routings. Develop and deliver capital expenditure projects from identification through to justification, implementation, and validation. Conduct work measurement to ensure accurate Bill of Materials and capacity management. Employ lean tools and practices such as standard work, 5S, Total Productive Maintenance, Visual Management, and value stream mapping. Ensure production processes and Standard Operating Procedures efficiently utilise materials, methods, and personnel. Engage in creative problem-solving to address operational issues including health and safety, efficiency improvements, process bottlenecks, and quality issues. Design and deliver tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes. Implement and support Environmental Health & Safety activities. Maintain and improve current products with regards to manufacturing processes. Investigate and resolve current production process issues. Support the testing and replacement of obsolescent consumables. Design and manage the introduction of new tooling related to current production processes. Monitor and report on key performance indicators such as productivity, production value, and delivery of solutions meeting the operating quality systems and business KPIs. Required Skills & Qualifications: Engineering/Manufacturing degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years in an engineering or manufacturing environment. Strong analytical approach to problem-solving. Proficient in producing concise reports and delivering effective presentations. Experienced in using Lean problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies and practices.
