Prisoner Escort Custody Services, Serco operates across 105 courts and 16 vehicle bases throughout London, East & West England. On average we transport over 21,000 custodies per month and at the core of our service is our Operational Control Centre Team (OCC) working to ensure custodies are transported on time, on schedule and in a safe & secure way.
We are recruiting for 2 Operational Control Centre (OCC) Deputy Managers to lead our fantastic team based in Gloucester. You will join a work family that feel valued and enjoy making a genuine difference every day! The centre is open 24/7 and whilst you’ll cover various shift patterns (which will include Nights & Weekends), we do operate on a rota basis that allows you the flexibility to enjoy meaningful time off to do the things you love (we typically work on average 10-hour shifts, up to 5 days per week on a rota basis but we also offer flexible working options).
This is a demanding critical role where you will contribute to the organisational goals consistently through supporting the business operationally. You will work closely with the internal operational team and the customer contract, providing 24/7 end to end operational management within the South of England regions. This will include, stakeholder management/engagement, adherence to SOP’S/LOP’s, legal and contractual compliance, welfare and Health and Safety. You will also provide first line management to a team of OCC Controllers, operationally covering 24/7 on a rota basis forming part of Gold, Silver, Bronze Incident Management process.
Do you thrive off delivering outstanding stakeholder engagement and have the experience to manage a diverse team whilst making decisions under pressure? It doesn’t always run smoothly though, so you’ll need to be quick on your feet to adapt to any unpredictable changes and deal with any incidents or challenges that occur throughout the day!
What you’ll need to do the role
If you are detail oriented, highly organised, resilient with exceptional communication skills, then we want to hear from you! Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in a similar role, when you have been involved in organising large scale logistics / scheduling plans in a large geographical area. You’ll be computer literate with the ability to quickly assimilate large volumes of data/information.
It is imperative that you have people management experience.

- You will be required to obtain Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting & Enhanced DBS with Child Barring.
