Position: Safety Investigator
Location: Bournemouth (Hybrid working can be agreed)
Working Hours: Full-Time, 40 Hours per week
Gama Aviation is currently looking for an experienced Safety Investigator to support our engineering sites across the UK. This role will be primarily based at our site in Bournemouth; however, there will be the requirement to travel to other engineering sites to undertake safety investigations, including conducting face-to-face interviews and/or examining evidence. Working from home is also permitted during times when the Safety Investigator is writing up investigation reports or processing them in the safety database (iQSMS). The approach to investigations follows the Baines Simmons FAiR 3 methodology, with reports written in the ICAO Annex 13 or MEDA formats, depending on the type of investigation and the recipient(s) of the report (internal or external).
This role would ideally be suited to a licensed aircraft engineer, military or civil, that has been trained in aviation safety investigations. The incumbent must be a qualified aviation safety investigator with demonstrable experience of undertaking safety investigations in engineering.

Responsibilities:
* Undertaking safety investigations in accordance with the process outlined in the Safety Management Manual (SMM), published on the company intranet.
* Managing safety investigations in the safety database (iQSMS), ensuring that they are appropriately prioritized and completed within the allocated timescales (usually 30 days in line with the Mandatory Occurrence Reporting (MOR) follow-up process).
* Producing ICAO Annex 13 style investigation reports (in iQSMS and/or Microsoft Word) for external agencies and/or customers when required (e.g., the CAA or AAIB).
* Producing Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) style investigations (in iQSMS and/or Microsoft Word) when required.
* Oversight of investigation stages delegated to others (e.g., departmental managers).
* Circulating investigation reports for peer review ahead of an Event Review Group (ERG).
* Organizing ERGs with appropriate members, in accordance with the Baines Simmons FAiR 3 methodology.
* Presenting the investigation report to the ERG and updating the report to include the behavioral analysis and any additional recommendations that they wish to add.
* Loading and tracking safety recommendations in the safety database (iQSMS).
* Reporting the status of safety investigations and safety recommendations to the Safety Review Board (SRB).
Skills, Qualifications and Experience required:
Essential:
* Trained Safety Investigator with extensive experience undertaking Safety Investigations in aircraft engineering.
* Previous experience within aircraft maintenance and as a Part 66 Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
* High level of IT proficiency and MS Office packages.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to write high-quality reports without factual, grammatical, or formatting errors.
* Ability to deliver and work to deadlines.
* Calm, approachable, and sensitive individual who is non-judgmental and open-minded.
* Must be able and willing to travel to any UK site, sometimes at short notice.
* Must be capable of obtaining a Security Clearance (SC).
Advantageous:
* Currently working as a Licensed Aircraft Engineer.
* Cranfield trained.
* Experience across both Fixed Wing and Rotary aircraft.
* Previous experience of iQSMS.
* Holds a current SC.
