Fixed-term maternity cover until 30 January 2026 Secondment Opportunity may be considered for Internal Staff This post is based at the Dover District Council premises at the White Cliffs Business Park, Dover. We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the Waste Services team, acting on behalf of Dover District Council and Folkestone & Hythe District Councils, supporting the provision of Recycling & Waste Collections and Street Cleansing services across the two Districts. This successful partnership between the two authorities, led by Dover District Council, has been running for 11 years, and a further 8-year contract with a private sector provider commenced in January 2021. The successful candidate will monitor the day-to-day delivery and standards achieved by our partner contractor, implementing measures to ensure performance improvement and enhancements where necessary. This position offers excellent opportunities for an ambitious individual to develop and demonstrate their experience and to progress their career within this sector, whilst helping us to develop and adapt our services to meet the changing demands that we will face over the coming years. Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships within the team and the wider organisation are essential. This role includes a significant element of field-based working and will require being able to travel throughout the district in an efficient and effective manner. The operational area for this post is the Northern Folkestone & Hythe District Council area. During the summer season, there will be street cleansing monitoring inspections either in the evenings and/or over weekends. We have a hybrid working approach with an expectation that you will work from the Civic Centre in Dover at least one day per week.
